Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. Adelaide Strategic Therapy collects, uses, stores and protects personal and health information in accordance with applicable Australian privacy law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This adults-only practice collects information reasonably necessary to provide and administer Strategic Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy, including contact, appointment, payment, health, clinical-record and correspondence information. Records are managed using systems including Cliniko and Hypnoflow, and may include consented hypnosis audio recordings. Clinical and related client records are retained for at least seven years from your last consultation. Information is used for care, administration, agreed therapeutic resources, legal and insurance obligations, and is not sold. Confidentiality is not absolute: disclosure may occur where required or authorised by law, including serious safety risks, valid legal process, insurer or professional advice, or other lawful circumstances. You may request access to or correction of your personal information by emailing hello@adelaidestrategictherapy.com.au. Privacy concerns can be raised with Rebecca Jane (Beck) Elliott; complaints are ordinarily acknowledged within 14 days and a substantive response is aimed for within 30 days where reasonably practicable. If unresolved, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992, or the Health and Community Services Complaints Commissioner, South Australia at www.hcscc.sa.gov.au or 1800 232 007. Telehealth is not available while you are located in the USA or Canada. 2. Information collection, use and technology

Information may be collected directly through Cliniko forms, online booking, phone, email, telehealth and in-person consultations; from documents or correspondence you provide; from authorised health professionals or third parties; and through technology used to document care and create agreed therapeutic resources. This may include identity and contact information, appointment and payment information, health and sensitive information, clinical notes, treatment plans, therapeutic tasking, correspondence, and consented hypnosis-related audio. Cliniko is used for practice administration and clinical records, with current hosting through AWS infrastructure in Sydney, Australia. Hypnoflow is used for clinical note-taking and, where consented, creating hypnosis audio recordings for therapeutic homework or tasking.

3. Storage, security, disclosure and records

The practice takes reasonable steps to protect information through access-controlled systems, strong passwords, multi-factor authentication where available, device security, secure account management, software updates and controlled clinical-record access. No electronic system can be completely secure. Information is retained for a minimum of seven years from the last consultation unless a longer period is required or reasonably appropriate. When it is no longer required, reasonable steps will be taken to destroy or de-identify it, subject to technical, legal and backup-system limitations. The practice may use professional consultation or supervision to support safe and ethical care; where reasonably practicable, information will be de-identified or limited. Telehealth is only offered where the client is in a permitted and insured jurisdiction and is not available to clients physically located in the USA or Canada.

4. Access and correction

You may request access to personal information Adelaide Strategic Therapy holds about you by writing to hello@adelaidestrategictherapy.com.au and providing enough information to verify your identity and identify the records requested. The practice aims to acknowledge an access request within 14 days and provide a substantive response within 30 days where reasonably practicable. Access may be refused or limited where permitted by law. You may also ask for personal information to be corrected if you believe it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. If a requested correction is not made, you may ask for a statement noting your position to be associated with the record where required by law.

5. Privacy complaints

Please provide your name and contact details, a description of the concern, relevant dates or communications, and the outcome you are seeking. The practice will ordinarily acknowledge a complaint within 14 days and aims to provide a substantive response within 30 days where reasonably practicable. If you are not satisfied with the response, you may be able to escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992, or the Health and Community Services Complaints Commissioner, South Australia at www.hcscc.sa.gov.au or 1800 232 007. 6. Website, online forms and policy updates

The Adelaide Strategic Therapy website and embedded booking or form services may collect information you voluntarily provide and technical information generated by the relevant platform. Third-party website, analytics, booking or form services may have their own privacy terms. This policy may be updated to reflect changes in law, technology, practice systems or service delivery. The current version will be made available through the practice website or on request.

7. Overseas technology and telehealth boundaries

Some technology providers may use infrastructure, support personnel or subprocessors outside Australia even where primary data hosting is in Australia. Where personal information may be disclosed overseas, Adelaide Strategic Therapy will take reasonable steps to comply with applicable privacy requirements, subject to any lawful exception. Telehealth is available only where the client’s physical location is within a jurisdiction in which the practice is permitted and appropriately insured to provide services, and is not available to clients physically located in the USA or Canada.
